Joanne Charles was born in Brooklyn, New York. She attended the Newhouse School of Public Communications at Syracuse University and earned Bachelors degrees in Journalism and Psychology. Following graduation, Ms.Charles worked for various publishers in New York before returning to law school at Nova Southeastern University. She received her J.D. from the Shepard Broad Law Center in 2007. While at the Law Center, Ms.Charles was a Goodwin Fellow and served as Editor-in-Chief of the Nova Law Review. She also studied the European Union legal system and European Community Law with the William Mitchell Law in London Program. Ms. Charles is a member of the American Bar Association and is a former Board Member of the T.J. Reddick Bar Association (2008-2009).
