William Berger is a senior partner in the law firm of Greenspoon Marder, P.A. He presently co-chairs the
firm’s litigation department and is instrumental in the firm’s marketing growth and development. Mr. Berger joined
Greenspoon Marder, P.A. in September of 1995 and became a named partner in December of that same year. He is
also counsel to the New York law firm of David Howe, P.A. Mr. Berger was born in New York City, New York in
1944, received his undergraduate degree from the University of Buffalo in 1965 and his law degree from Brooklyn
Law School in 1970.
Mr. Berger is admitted to practice in the state and federal courts of New York and Florida, 11th Circuit Court
of Appeals and the Supreme Court of the United States and maintains the highest rating (“AV”) given by
Martindale-Hubbell Law Directory. He is a member of the Florida Bar, the Bar Associations of Broward and Palm
Beach Counties, New York State Bar Association, and the New York County Lawyers Association. He is a former
member of the American Justice Association (formerly, Association of Trial Lawyers of America) and the Florida
Justice Association (formerly, Academy of Florida Trial Lawyers). His trial practice is currently concentrated in
Dade, Broward and Palm Beach Counties, in both state and federal court. Mr. Berger has litigated and tried over 50
jury and 350 non-jury trials spanning the areas of commercial, probate, trust, real estate, title insurance, construction
litigation and domestic matter cases throughout the State of Florida as well as in the State Supreme Court of New
York in the counties of New York, Kings and Queens. Mr. Berger’s past and present client list includes country
clubs, banks, insurance companies, real estate development and various business corporations as well as individuals
over his 38-year legal career.
Until its 2001 merger with Royal Bank of Canada, he sat on the Board of Directors of Admiralty Bank, a
community bank with 10 branches located in north Palm Beach, Boca Raton, Fort Lauderdale, Melbourne, Cocoa
Beach and Orlando.
Mr. Berger is also a founding member as well as a board member of Paradise Bank which maintains branches
in Broward and Palm Beach counties.
He is a Palm Beach County resident where he is active in various community endeavors including serving on
the Board of Directors of the Economic Council of the Palm Beaches, a member of the Business Development
Board and a Trustee Member of the Greater Boca Raton Chamber of Commerce, Chamber of Commerce of the
Palm Beaches and the North Palm Beach County Chamber of Commerce. He is currently serving on the Advisory
Board of ICABA, a multi-media organization fostering opportunities for black professionals and entrepreneurs. In
August 2007, Governor Charlie Crist appointed Mr. Berger as a Trustee of the Palm Beach Community College and
in May 2009 he received the Business Leader of the Year Award by the Greater Boca Raton Chamber of Commerce.
In addition to his civic involvement, Mr. Berger’s charitable efforts include annual donations to the
Make*A*Wish foundation and the The Classic!, an annual golf tournament which features a different celebrity host
every year and benefits HomeSafe, a shelter for abused, neglected and AIDS infected children. He has been a
benefactor of this charity for the past 9 years and co-chair for the past 4 years.
