Kate Gissy grew up in Orlando, Florida. She attended Emory University, where she graduated with a B.A. in 2004 double majoring in Economics and Spanish. While at Emory she received the prestigious Goodrich C. White Academic Merit Scholarship, and was a member of the following national honor societies: Phi Beta Kappa, Phi Sigma Iota, Omicron Delta Epsilon, and Phi Eta Sigma. She received her law degree from the University of Miami School of Law where she graduated summa cum laude in 2007. She was a member of the University of Miami Law Review Editorial Board, a recipient of the Dean's Merit Scholarship, and is a member of the Order of the Coif. Ms. Gissy also received awards in the following classes: Legal Research and Writing, Torts, U.S. Constitutional Law, Arts and Entertainment Law, Doing Business in Latin America, Comparative Law, International Economic Law, Latin American Law, and Identity Crime and Justice.
